Wow

I have to agree with the previous reviews... for some reason this did remind me of sonic.... Either way the song is a bit repetetive. IT is very good video game music.. something I don't really expect from you. Nice Job.

TeHLoY responds:

This song turned out to be a surprise, as I never expected something of this genre to come out.
I think this song is repetitive, as you said, because I didn't add variation to the melody..
Anyway, thanks for reviewing..

Wow....

This is very.... much so what the title states... Oh... and I think I might try to rap to this... Im not much of a rapper... but it sounds like fun. This piece is by far one of your best works Ben. Can't wait to see more. 10/10

thatbennyguy responds:

Thanks gamekrazzy... i am learning quite a lot. i really enjoy how you're going musically too... very adventurous :3

Benjamin

well...

I don't have much to say about this.... It surely is a great piece of music, and as the pluck continues to pluck and pluck... it gives a dark feeling... but it mainly is simply annoying... You seem to have alot of them in this piece... That little bit of suspense... Just a simple question... Is this going to be a black and white movie with the titles dictating speach? Because this just seems like that kind of music. 9/10

kancoet responds:

Well it won't be black and white, but it will have that "noir" feel to it, low saturation, minimal lighting. The scene is an empty table two glasses of wine and two plates spaghetti set to a candle light dinner. Thank you for your review, it was really helpful pointing out the plucking sounds.

Lol... What happened?

I am sure this is just as good as the WIP... and better, as I havn't finished the song yet. BTW looks like someone 0 bombed you as the score is currently 2.63. Anyways after listening to the song I have to say that my other review pretty much works for this as this is alot of the same thing, not that it is repetetive. Anyways Nice Job overall... Time to increase your score. 10/10 5/5

WinglessStudios responds:

Thanx agian :) and it is a bit due to the fact its a continuation lol yeah it got zero bombed even after i reposted it a second time so i dont care about that rating all to much right now cause i actualy know that its good lol but thanx for listening Krazzy hope you take the time to listen and review more of my stuff :)

ummm...

I don't like the percussion... It's way to harsh, and doesn't work well with your soothing piano and strings... The piano is also way to repeated. The second motion about 1:30 in to the song was cool, would like it to be longer, and back to the drms... Overall, needs work... 7/10. Ambient music is a hard genre to understand and get a feel for, so understand that a 7/10 isn't a bad score... Please continue with your music.

Mataro responds:

Thanks for taking the time to review, amigo. I've always been one to favor contrast. I have, at times, produced purely soft music, or purely hard music, but nearly always I like contrast. Either at the same time, or in alternating sequences. Sometimes that means intense parts followed by a mellow interlude, or mellow parts broken up by intense breaks. This is one of the best examples of mine I feel for a song that has many shifting elements tugging a different direction, but still remains coherent.

The drums are in stark contrast to the somewhat melancholic piano. As if the pianist is unenthused and is just plonking keys back and forth. The guitar joins in with a simple, mellow rhythm. The drums follow the same mellow rhythm, but are the agitated one in the mix. They all pick up a little together, and then the simple mix goes from being a few simple instruments in a room to an entire army of sounds filling a cathedral. Then it drops to something softer than either the piano or the guitar while the drums carry on. The entire piece is marked by these shifts.

I wouldn't say I'm an amazing musician. But I'm proud of this one, and I think I have reason to be. That said, I agree with you. "Ambient" is a hard genre to nail down. To me, music should tell a story. "Ambient" music doesn't tell a story, it merely to YOUR story. Thus, ambient music can rear a lot of different heads, some of them ugly. It depends on what your story is, and what atmosphere fits it. One could deduce a lot about my story at the time of writing, but that's beside the point.. Seems I've become a bit tangential here. :P

Anyway. Thanks a ton for the review. Glad to hear you enjoyed it some anyway. :D

I love the piano...

It can be used in any genre. As for this song, it compliments well... Very Soothing... The percussion in my mind wasn't really needed... but it works... Overall it was a good song, very long song, and alot of it is repetetivity. Don't get me wrong, I like this song, but try to shorten the length of your motions in here, We don't want to hear the same thing over and over. 3/5, 7/10. This has a sense of ambience, mixing mechanical with freeminded... It works well together... Repetevity dropped you score.

Blizzaine responds:

Whos "we"? NG/Audio has been about receptivity since 05 ^^

Interesting...

It's cool.... I must admit... This contest is sure to have amazing results. I love this... though it is slightly repetetive... I would have to say you have a good idea what people want to hear. congrats.

TeHLoY responds:

Thanks! Nice for you to drop by to review this...

This song has...

WTF written all over it... It's... different. Wierd and creepy... I don't know what to say about it... it's completely... well...
and 3 minutes in it has a joyous sound... wierd... I don't know what you were going for... but it has definately intrigued me, especially when the piano comes in. 10/10 Keep up the good work.

ShatterTheSky22 responds:

I'm glad I created something so different that you still enjoy!
Thank you for the review and score. ^__^

Interesting...

This is cool!!!!! I do agree with the review below... the arpegio needs to be a little off or the piano needs to be a little off, because it is indeed very stagnant. Other than that this does leave me rather speechless. 10/10 because I am nice. :D

ACINO responds:

Thank you man:D! I'll keep that on my mind;)

This piece... its....

lulling... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Lol the funny thing is that I can actually see something very theatrical going on here. A guy talking to a girl who cant sleep due to recent events and he says that line "Sometimes when I can't sleep I write myself lullabies." and After that he begins to play the piano... You have ingrained a solid picture in my head. This is one of your best works that I have heard so far. Thank you for having me listen to it.

ShatterTheSky22 responds:

xD I didn't think that line would become something important, it was just the truth! lol
But I'm glad you regard it so highly. Thank you very much.

I am creative and love to draw, cartoon, write music, animate... I believe that with enough work Newgrounds will come to see that I have what it takes to be what I believe I can be. Thank You Newgrounds.
